Jennifer Stephens, FNP

Jen is a western trained family nurse practitioner who graduated from Oregon Health Science University in Portland, OR. After years of feeling like something was "off" in her health and wellness, as well as in her medical practice, she learned through her own journey the importance of healing through more natural approaches. Starting as a patient first at Deep Roots, Jen found a home here and a desire to partner with her patients in supporting their foundational health to achieve overall wellness. She has a strong passion for gut health and the impact food has on our body.

Jen is originally from Pueblo, Colorado and was determined to pursue something in the healing arts from a young age, declaring she would become a doctor when she was 9 years old. When the family moved to Oregon in 1991, she soon discovered where home truly was and launched herself on a path that would lead her through work in emergency medicine (as a nurse), rural health care, urgent care and child abuse medicine (as a nurse practitioner). Her connection between trauma medicine and primary care helps her guide her patients in healing at the cellular level and work with practitioners who can get them there. In her free time, she enjoys being in nature as much as possible, including hiking, kayaking, snowshoeing and scuba diving with her husband, Steve, and her son, Asher.
