At Deep Roots Family Medicine in Corvallis, Oregon and Salem, Oregon, our integrative oncology service is led by Dr. Amy Loschert, ND, FABNO, a board-certified Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO)—a distinction held by fewer than 100 physicians across North America.
With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Amy blends cutting-edge clinical oncology knowledge with the wisdom of naturopathic medicine, offering a cancer patient a compassionate, evidence-informed path forward. Her work in both hospital-based cancer centers and integrative therapy clinics gives her a unique ability to bridge conventional cancer treatment and complementary therapies.
What Is Integrative Oncology?
Integrative oncology is an evidence-based field of medicine that complements conventional cancer treatment—such as chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery—with safe, effective naturopathic medicine. The goal is to support healing, reduce side effects, and enhance quality of life throughout your cancer journey.
Dr. Amy’s integrative oncology program incorporates:
Botanical and nutritional medicine for detox, hormone balance, and side effect management
Stress-reduction therapies like mindfulness, bodywork, and Reiki
Personalized diet and lifestyle plans informed by Ayurvedic and naturopathic principles
Functional medicine testing to guide cancer care
Evidence-based support for breast cancer, prostate cancer, and more
Coordination with your oncology team to ensure seamless cancer care
Note: IV therapy for immune and nutritional support is available at our Salem clinic.
Meet Dr. Amy Loschert, ND, FABNO
Dr. Amy began her career in 2003 as a licensed naturopathic physician, practicing general integrative medicine across the U.S. Her early work included Ayurvedic counseling, hormone support, detoxification, and treatment of chronic illnesses using traditional cancer treatment alternatives.
After over a decade in private practice, she felt called to work more directly with cancer patients. Through years of patient care, advanced training, and a rigorous board examination process, she earned the prestigious FABNO credential—representing the highest standard of integrative oncology therapy in the field.
Her clinical experience spans both private clinics and major institutions such as Salish Cancer Center and Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Her philosophy: true healing happens when conventional therapy and alternative medicine work together.
As she says, “In true integrative medicine, 1 + 1 = 3. When you combine the strengths of both systems, the patient reaps more than the sum of its parts.”
Who Can Benefit?
Dr. Amy’s integrative oncology program is designed for:
Cancer patients undergoing conventional cancer treatment who want to reduce side effects and boost resilience
Cancer survivors looking to maintain wellness and prevent recurrence
Newly diagnosed individuals seeking guidance and support
Those interested in exploring complementary therapies in a safe, medically-informed environment
Patients interested in clinical trials or supportive integrative therapies not typically offered in standard cancer centers
Why Choose Integrative Cancer Care?
Research from institutions like the National Cancer Institute shows that integrative therapy can reduce cancer treatment side effects, enhance emotional and physical well-being, and support healing during the cancer journey. Integrative oncology services aim to complement conventional cancer treatment, providing an opportunity for patients to manage their symptoms and improve overall cancer care.
Our patients often share that their cancer diagnosis became a "wake-up call" or "blessing in disguise," helping them prioritize their health and purpose. Dr. Amy is deeply honored to join patients cancer support community and walk alongside in this transformative work.
